Advertising Guidelines
PagPol sells advertising alongside subscriptions and donations to fund county-by-county coverage of New York’s 57 non-NYC counties. These guidelines cover what we accept, how ads are labeled, and how advertising stays separate from our reporting. If anything here doesn’t answer your question, contact us directly below.
What We Offer
We offer county-targeted display placements on the pages for the county or counties you want to reach, and sponsorship of a county’s weekly email digest. Both can be bought for a single county or bundled across several. We don’t have a public rate card yet — contact us and we’ll walk you through current pricing, available inventory, and file specs.
Editorial Independence
Advertisers get no advance access to, input into, or influence over our coverage — including coverage of the advertiser itself, a competitor, or a race the advertiser has a stake in. Buying an ad doesn’t change how, whether, or how favorably we cover you, and we don’t pull or soften a story because an advertiser objects to it. Running an ad never implies that PagPol endorses the advertiser, a candidate, or a position.
Labeling & Disclosure
Every ad is visibly marked “Advertisement” or “Sponsored” and set apart from editorial content — never in our headline type, byline format, or article layout. An ad that could be mistaken for one of our stories isn’t accepted, regardless of who’s buying it.
Political & Issue Advertising
Because we cover elections, we expect ads from candidates, campaigns, parties, and advocacy groups on all sides, and we accept them without regard to party or position — consistent with the nonpartisan reporting described in our Standards & Practices. Every political or issue ad must clearly state who actually paid for it: the real candidate, committee, party, or organization, never a vague or invented name. We don’t accept an ad designed to look like it comes from a candidate or campaign that isn’t the one paying for it, and running a political ad never implies PagPol endorses the candidate, position, or claims made in it.
What We Don’t Accept
We reserve the right to decline any ad. We don’t run ads that are deceptive or knowingly false, mimic PagPol’s own editorial design or story format, advertise anything illegal in New York State, or come from a sponsor who won’t disclose who they actually are.
Getting Started
This program is new, and we’re building it out county by county alongside our coverage. If you’re evaluating PagPol as an advertiser now, contact us directly and we’ll walk through current availability, pricing, and specs for your county.
