Waterford dad offers $1,000 reward for info in crash that injured son

Son has a broken arm and bruises after hit-and-run crash, according to father

WATERFORD — A Watertown man is offering a $1,000 reward in hopes of finding the suspect in an incident that left his teenage son injured.

Waterford police confirmed that 14-year-old Mason Casey was hit by a vehicle around 7:10 p.m. Thursday on Middletown Road. The impact broke his arm and caused other injuries.

He was riding an electric scooter at the time, heading to a friend’s house in the village, according to his father, Michael Casey.

“Normally, I don’t like to ask for help or put any business on the internet, but in regard to this, this has to be shared,” Michael Casey said when reached by phone Sunday. “Hopefully, we can get a little justice because who the hell hits a kid and takes off?”

Mason Casey has since been released from Albany Medical Center Hospital. Along with a broken right arm, the teen, who is right-handed, has bruises across his body, his father said.

Waterford Police Public Safety Commissioner Michael Shudt said the suspect was likely driving a white pickup truck.
